Stress seems to creep up at the most inopportune times. With the daily stresses of work, school, and just life in general, stress can almost be debilitating and seem unmanageable. But, stress CAN be controlled through taking care of your mind and body. Here are some tips and tricks on easy ways to help release those annoying stresses:
1. Go Outside.
This one seems obvious, but not everyone does it. Sometimes all you need is a bit of fresh air to calm your nerves. Go for a walk or even for a run. You’d be surprised at how quickly you’ll feel relaxed.
2. Eat a More Balanced Diet.
This one also seems like a given, but so often when we are stressed, we binge eat the most unhealthy of food, which makes us stress even more for an entirely different reason. Next time you’re feeling stressed out, try and eat some fruits or veggies as a quick snack instead of opting for the bag of chips in the pantry.
3. Find a Hobby.
This can be anything, even watching TV. Everyone needs some down time to do what they love and unwind. Going at full speed 24/7 isn’t healthy and definitely triggers stress. Find something you like to do and take at least 30 minutes every day to just focus on that one thing.
4. Listen to Calming Music.
If you’re not able to take a break by walking away from whatever it is you’re doing, put on some headphones and listen to relaxing music. This will allow you to tune out everything going on around you and let you focus on the tasks at hand.
5. Buy Eucalyptus-scented Everything.
This one may seem funny, but trust me. This scent is amazing and actually works. Its minty scent gives you a fresh breath and helps reduce tension and mental fatigue, making you more alert. Next time you’re stressed, try lighting a eucalyptus-scented candle, put your head back and relax, maybe even throw on that calming music we talked about.
